Introduction

Hello and welcome to the website of Powerhouse Christian Ministries. My name is Pastor Robert Jones. On April 30, 2024, we acquired this property, marking a new chapter for our ministry.

Transition and Commitment

For the past two years, I have been commuting between California and Texas. Now, I am in the process of moving permanently to Texas, with the transition expected to take place between June and July of 2026. My goal is to pastor Powerhouse Christian Ministries in Grand Prairie. This move has been a life-changing experience, as I leave behind many things, being a native Texan who has lived in California for the last 40 years. During my time in California, I was blessed to marry the love of my life and raise two wonderful children.

Upcoming Renovations

In the coming months, several changes will be happening on the property. Renovations for the church will begin on March 16, 2026, and are expected to take approximately two months, provided no unexpected issues arise. I will be present in Grand Prairie from March 8 to March 13, 2026, and will return again from April 23 to April 28, 2026. During this time, I am grateful to have lifelong friend Tina Land assisting with work at the church until I arrive permanently.

The Call to Texas

You may wonder, “Why Texas? Why now?” I was born in Fort Worth, TX. My grandfather built and pastored a church in a suburb of Fort Worth for 49 years, and my father served as a missionary in Haiti for 43 years. Although I never expected to become a pastor, I believe God had a plan for me that was unknown at the time. I had dreamed of returning to my home state for many years, but about 18 years ago, after visiting Texas, I asked God, “Why can’t I pastor in Texas?” He responded, “I don’t need you in Texas.”. I accepted that calling and stayed in California.

Fast forward 18 years, and I received a phone call pertaining to purchasing the Grand Prairie location. That call led to our nonprofit purchasing the property in Grand Prairie. I never imagined I would return to my home state, and I am genuinely excited to be back. California has changed and no longer aligns with my beliefs or values, but I remained there out of obedience to God. Now, I am moving to Texas in response to His call, eager to engage with the community and get to know the people.

Community Engagement

I am a relational person and look forward to meeting community members—learning their names, their families, where they work, and their passions. I adhere to the principals that we must take church outside the four walls and into the community

Spiritual Leadership

My greatest strength lies in leading people into a deeper relationship with Christ. While many already know Him, I strive to guide them into an intimate relationship, enabling them to hear His voice clearly and obey. Though I am limited as a man, God is unlimited. My skills and gifts are finite, but we have a guide who can fulfill us in ways beyond our imagination.
